Common questions
- Is my school data safe?
- EaseStudy stores the least it can: your class names, your assignment titles and due dates, whether you’ve finished them, and the study times you plan. It never stores the work itself, your attachments, your marks, your teachers’ or classmates’ names, or your class list. It’s kept in a database in Canada, it isn’t sold or shared, and you can delete all of it from Settings in one go.
- Can my teacher see this?
- No. EaseStudy only reads from Classroom — it can’t write anything back, so nothing you do here appears to your teacher or your school. Your plan, what you’ve skipped and anything you say to the assistant are yours alone. The only exception is one you make yourself: the assistant can draft an email to a teacher for you, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
- Notifications used to work and now they don’t.
- Browsers throw notification permissions away sometimes — after a clear-out of site data, a reinstall, or just a long gap. Open Settings: if it says notifications stopped working on this device, turning them on again fixes it. “Show one right now” tests your device, and “Send a test one” tests the whole path, so whichever fails tells you where the problem is. Worth knowing: if notifications are off for your browser in your computer or phone’s own settings, or Focus / Do Not Disturb is on, nothing we send will appear.
- My school Google account won’t let me sign in.
- Some schools block outside apps from using school accounts — only the school’s IT can change that. Use “Email me a sign-in link” instead, with any email address. Everything works the same way.
- The sign-in email never arrived.
- Check your spam or junk folder, and that the address was typed correctly. Each link works once, for 24 hours — if it has expired, just ask for a new one.
- Notifications don’t show up on my iPhone.
- On an iPhone or iPad, notifications only work after you add EaseStudy to your Home Screen: open it in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”, and turn notifications on from there. It needs iOS 16.4 or newer.
- How do I get fewer reminders?
- Settings lets you set quiet hours, a daily limit, how soon a follow-up comes, or switch reminders off entirely.
- What does the Classroom link on an assignment do?
- It saves a link to that assignment. When you press Start on a study block for it, the link opens in a new tab, so you land right on the work. Pasting a link doesn’t connect anything — connecting Google Classroom itself is in Settings.
- Can EaseStudy pull my assignments out of Google Classroom?
- Yes — Settings, then Connect Google Classroom. It reads your class names and your own assignments’ titles, due dates and whether you’ve handed them in, about every half hour. It can’t see your work or your marks, and it can’t change anything in Classroom. On a school account your school may have to approve it first; Google will say so if that happens.
- How do I remove a course?
- On the Courses page: Archive hides it but keeps its history; Delete removes it and everything filed under it, after asking you first.
- How do I change the name EaseStudy calls me?
- In Settings, under “What we call you”.
- How do I delete my account?
- At the bottom of Settings, under “Delete my account”. It deletes your account and everything in it straight away, so it asks you to type DELETE first.
