The short version

  • We keep what you put into your planner, and only what the planner needs to work.
  • We never sell your information.
  • Your information is stored in Canada. The servers that process your requests are in the United States.
  • The only cookies are the ones that keep sign-in working and secure.
  • You can change or delete anything you’ve entered, whenever you like.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address, your time zone, the name you ask us to call you, and — if you sign in with Google — the name on your Google account.
  • Your planner: your courses; your assignments (title, due date, and any link you add); the study time you plan; fixed commitments like a job or practice; and reminders you set.
  • How your plan went: when a study block was started, finished or missed. This is what lets the reminders adjust to how you actually work.
  • Your settings: reminder times, quiet hours and the rest of the Settings page.
  • The assistant’s notes: the short lines the character at the bottom of your page says, and a fingerprint of the situation each was written for, so the same line is reused instead of being written again.
  • If you connect Google Classroom: which Google account you connected, and permission to read it — kept encrypted, and deleted the moment you disconnect. What comes in from Classroom is filed as ordinary courses and assignments, above, plus your teachers’ announcements if you allowed that.
  • Notifications: if you turn them on, the delivery address your browser gives us, and a rough description of the device (like “iPhone, Safari”) so you can tell your devices apart in Settings.

What we never keep

Passwords (there aren’t any — you sign in with Google or an emailed link), profile photos, phone numbers, grades or marks, your contacts, or your location. When you sign in with Google we ask for your name and email and nothing else.

Google Classroom, if you connect it

Connecting it is your choice, and nothing about it happens unless you press the button in Settings. It is separate from signing in with Google: signing in never gives us access to your Classroom.

What EaseStudy reads, about every half hour:

  • The names of your classes.
  • Your own assignments — the title, the due date, the link back to Classroom, and whether you have handed each one in.
  • Announcements your teachers post to the class, if you tick that permission — the text of the post, when it was posted, and the link back to it. This one is optional: leave it unticked and everything else still works.

What it cannot read, because we never ask for permission to:

  • Your work, or anything you have handed in.
  • Your marks, or anything a teacher has written on your work.
  • Private messages between you and a teacher, or the comments underneath a post.
  • Attachments, files, or anything in Drive.
  • Your classmates, your teachers’ names, or anyone else’s work.

The permissions are read-only: EaseStudy cannot post, change or delete anything in Classroom, and it never tells Classroom what you do here. Everything it reads goes into your own planner and nowhere else — what comes from Classroom is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train anybody’s AI models. Disconnecting in Settings tells Google to withdraw the permission and deletes our copy of your Google tokens; the assignments already in your planner stay, and you can delete those yourself.

Where it lives

Your data is stored in a database in Montréal, Canada (Supabase). The servers that run the app and handle each request are in Washington, D.C., in the United States (Vercel), so your information passes through the United States while it is being processed, even though it is kept in Canada. Everything travels encrypted. The sign-in token Google gives us is stored encrypted as well.

Who else touches it

  • Google — if you sign in with Google, it tells us your name and email. If you also connect Google Classroom, we read your classes, your own assignments, and (if you allow it) your teachers’ class announcements from it, read-only, as described above.
  • Supabase — stores the database, in Canada.
  • Vercel — runs the website and the app.
  • Resend — sends the sign-in email when you ask for a link. That email contains the link and nothing else.
  • Inngest — starts our reminder check every five minutes. It receives only counts, like “three reminders sent”, never anything about you.
  • Anthropic — writes the short notes the little character at the bottom of your page says. When your day changes, we send the titles of your assignments, when they are due, and whether your planned study time was started, finished or missed — the same things already on your screen. If you connected Classroom, some of those titles came from there. We do not send your email address, and we never send your work, your marks, or anything else out of Classroom. Under Anthropic’s API terms it is not used to train their models. Their servers are in the United States. If the feature is switched off, nothing is sent at all.
  • Your browser’s notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on your device) — delivers notifications. The message is encrypted for your device before it leaves us, so they can’t read it.

Your information is never shared with anyone else, and never sold to anyone.

Cookies

EaseStudy uses only the cookies sign-in needs, and nothing else is saved in your browser. There are no third-party cookies on the site as it stands, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to agree or disagree to.

  • Change the name we call you in Settings.
  • Turn notifications off in Settings, or in your browser’s settings.
  • Sign out to end your session — on this device and on our server.

EaseStudy is made for secondary-school students. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before using it. We don’t knowingly collect anything beyond what is described here, from anyone.

The demo

The demo is one shared, made-up student. Anything typed into the demo can be seen by other visitors, so please don’t put anything real in it.
